(Drugs and Alcohol and the Adolescent Brain)

This course is intended to be utilized by parents, teachers, employers...basically anyone that interacts with or is responsible for teenagers on a regular basis. It will examine the changes that are occurring in a normal teenager's brain as it develops through adolescence and then discuss how drugs and alcohol have a debilitating effect on this development. Emphasis will be placed on the most common types of drugs that adolescents are abusing and how you, as the adult, can take preventative measures that may lessen the availability of certain substances. This course will also address the warning signs for adolescents that are exhibiting abusive behavior and provide resources for getting the appropriate help.
