This course is an in-depth, critical examination of substance abuse in relation to crime, the criminal justice system, and American society through a multi-disciplinary understanding. It examines a wide variety of types of drugs and their classifications from psycho-social, historical and theoretical perspectives, including the epidemiology, causes, and multiple effects of substance use, abuse, and addiction/dependency.
